"Caleb has been giving our son lessons for several years. My son had come close to quitting until we found Caleb. Caleb really connected with him and helped reinvigorate his love of playing music. Caleb assigns both fun, contemporary music and classical pieces. I usually hear the two of them laughing during lessons, truly enjoying the experience. Caleb has also helped him prepare for various auditions and as a result my son has made it into the honors orchestra for our county every year. Caleb has also helped him organize a quartet of friends to play together-- another part of my son's cello experience that has really added to his enjoyment of playing. I have been most impressed with Caleb's ability to connect with my son on his level (not always an easy task when working with teenagers!). We had the good fortune to discover Caleb on our recent trip to Nashville. As the mother of a young cellist who loves playing different genres of music, I thought our summer vacation to the country music capital of the world was the perfect occasion for our son to learn some new foot-tapping music. 🤠 Despite only having time for four classes in two weeks, thanks to Caleb’s guidance our 10-year old got a tiny taste of the joy of singing scat, learning fundamental folk techniques - pulling chords (as opposed to plucking), doing the chop and the shuffle - and even improvising! In his own words “Caleb was a fun teacher who also loved country music.” As a mother I loved seeing the joy these sessions sparked in my son’s eyes and can’t wait until we are back again to continue learning with Caleb!

Caleb has been a wonderful teacher - I am so happy to take lessons with him! He has a lot of knowledge about the technique of the instrument and how to create a beautiful sound. I often feel he makes one small adjustment and suddenly I sound 10 times better! He is also very kind, considerate, and has been very flexible with me about scheduling. I 100% recommend him to anyone wanting to take cello lessons.

“I am 12 years old and have been playing cello for 6 years. Caleb was my instructor at the Mark O'Connor string camp. The week before our lesson, he recorded an accompaniment for a piece we would be working on, and it was great to get a head start and to be able to play with him. We worked on bluegrass practicing techniques and improvising with blues scales. It was some super cool music and thanks to Caleb, my playing is improving!”
